The Hidden Secret of Ayurveda
The Hidden Secret of Ayurveda – Robert E. Svoboda
This book is an excellent introduction and overview of the profound, ancient Indian healing system known as Ayurveda. This book gives the reader a chance to sense the working principles of Ayurveda, and see how Ayurveda can be adapted and integrated into life in a practical way, for today’s health needs.
The word Ayurveda can be translated as “the knowledge of life” or more correctly as “the knowledge of longevity”. Ayurvedic healing looks at the whole person—the body, the mind, and the spirit—and helps to develop an individual program to bring balance, good health and at least a taste of immortality.
Robert E. Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda, tutored him in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore. After moving to India in 1973, he lived there for more than a decade. Since 1985 he has continued to spend many months of each year there and in other countries. The author of a dozen books, he serves as Adjunct Faculty for the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque and for Bastyr University in Seattle.
